Functional Brain Health Evaluation
A Deeper Look at What May Be Affecting Your Brain Health
If you or someone you love is struggling with mood, focus, behavior, sleep, cognitive, or complex mental-health symptoms, this evaluation gives us time to step back and look at the full picture.
We'll take a thorough history, review what has already been tried, look for patterns that may be affecting brain function, and identify the areas that deserve attention first.
$597 60-minute virtual evaluation
For adults, children, and families.
Is it a fit?
Is This Evaluation Right for You?
You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin.
This evaluation may be a good fit whether you are just beginning to explore symptoms, newly diagnosed, or have been dealing with a condition for years and want a deeper understanding of what may be affecting your brain health.
It may be a good fit if you're:
- Just beginning to explore symptoms and want a deeper understanding of what may be going on
- Newly diagnosed and want to look beyond the diagnosis alone
- Living with a condition for years and still searching for better answers
- Taking medication but still experiencing symptoms or unwanted side effects
- Hoping to support brain health with nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, and other non-prescription strategies where appropriate
- Interested in understanding possible underlying drivers rather than only managing symptoms
- Looking for a more organized plan instead of trying one thing after another
- Willing to make meaningful changes over time
It may not be the right fit if you're looking for:
- Emergency or crisis care
- Medication prescribing or medication management
- A quick fix
- A guaranteed outcome
If that's what you need right now, that's completely valid. It's just outside what this evaluation is built to do.
What we look at
Looking at the Brain Directly — and the Systems That Affect It
Brain symptoms do not happen in isolation.
Supporting brain health means looking at the needs of the brain itself while also examining the systems throughout the body that influence how the brain functions.
That may include nutrient availability, oxygen delivery, circulation, inflammatory activity, blood-sugar regulation, sleep, digestion, hormones, immune function, environmental exposures, medications, neurological history, and other underlying drivers.
The goal is to understand what may be interfering with healthy brain function and what is most worth addressing first.
Brain Health Foundations
Nutrients, oxygen delivery, circulation, inflammatory balance, and the biological building blocks involved in healthy brain function.
Nutrition & Nutrient Status
Dietary patterns, nutrient insufficiencies, food quality, and individual needs.
Sleep & Circadian Health
Sleep quality, timing, breathing concerns, and restorative rhythm.
Gut & Digestive Health
Digestive function, food reactions, the gut-brain connection, and possible hidden infections or microbial imbalances when relevant.
Metabolic Health
Blood-sugar regulation, energy, insulin-related patterns, and metabolic function.
Stress & Nervous-System Load
Chronic stress, resilience, trauma history, and daily demands.
Hormonal & Endocrine Factors
Thyroid, hormonal, and other endocrine considerations when relevant.
Environmental Exposures
Mold and water-damaged environments, heavy metals, chemical exposures, and overall toxic burden.
Inflammation & Immune Patterns
Relevant inflammatory, autoimmune, infection-related, and immune-system history.
Medications & Supplements
Current and past medication response, side effects, interactions, and supplement use.
Head Injury & Neurological History
Concussion, traumatic brain injury, seizures, and other relevant neurological history.
Getting started
Before We Meet
The evaluation starts before the appointment itself.
After booking, you'll complete a comprehensive intake and have the opportunity to upload previous labs, imaging, medical records, testing, medication and supplement information, and other relevant documents.
I review the information you provide ahead of time so we can use the 60-minute visit to go deeper rather than spend most of the appointment collecting basic history.
Before your visit, you'll receive:
- Comprehensive intake form
- Informed consent and telehealth forms
- Secure client portal access
- A place to upload prior labs, imaging, records, and testing
- Clear preparation instructions
The visit
What We'll Cover Together
-
Your Story
We start with a thorough history of your symptoms, timeline, diagnoses, previous treatment, major health events, and what has or has not helped.
-
Your Current Care
We review medications, supplements, current providers, previous labs, testing, therapies, and other relevant care.
-
The Bigger Picture
We look for patterns involving brain health, sleep, nutrition, digestion, metabolism, hormones, immune activity, stress, environmental exposures, infections, neurological history, and other areas that may be influencing symptoms.
-
Your Priorities
We identify the areas that appear most important to address first rather than trying to tackle everything at once.
-
What Comes Next
We discuss initial nutrition, lifestyle, environmental, and supplement strategies when appropriate and determine whether additional investigation or testing may be useful.
Testing
Targeted Testing, When It Makes Sense
Testing is not one-size-fits-all.
Based on your history, symptoms, previous testing, goals, and budget, I may recommend additional laboratory testing when it is likely to provide useful information and meaningfully guide the plan.
Examples may include:
- Comprehensive blood laboratory testing
- GI-MAP stool testing
- Organic Acids Test (OAT)
- DUTCH hormone testing
- Mycotoxin testing
- Lyme and tick-borne disease testing
- Nutrient testing
- Other testing appropriate to your individual case
You do not need every test on this list. Testing is selected based on your specific situation.
Laboratory testing is separate from the $597 evaluation and is billed separately.
The outcome
What You May Leave With
Depending on your individual situation, the evaluation may give you:
- A more complete understanding of your history and symptom patterns
- A clearer picture of possible underlying drivers affecting brain health
- Priorities for what deserves attention first
- Personalized nutrition recommendations
- Practical sleep, stress, movement, and lifestyle strategies
- Targeted supplement recommendations when appropriate
- Recommendations for additional laboratory testing when useful
- A practical roadmap for the next phase of care
- Recommendations for other supportive care when appropriate
When appropriate, I may also recommend additional support such as psychotherapy, EMDR, psychiatric care, neurological evaluation, pediatric care, or other services that may complement the work we are doing.
After testing
What Happens After Testing?
If additional testing is part of your plan, the next major step is the Functional Brain Health Results & Strategy Visit.
Not every person needs extensive testing. The process is tailored to what is useful for your case.
At that visit, we:
- Review your results in the context of your history and symptoms
- Identify the findings that appear most relevant
- Prioritize the areas to address first
- Refine your nutrition, lifestyle, environmental, and supplement strategy
- Build a practical plan for the next 30–60 days
- Discuss follow-up care and additional support when appropriate

What is the difference between this and a regular medical appointment?
A typical visit is often focused and time-limited, usually centered on the presenting concern. This evaluation is a longer, dedicated look at your history and the factors that may be affecting how you feel and function. It's meant to complement your medical care, not stand in for it.
Do I need to stop my medications?
No. I don't prescribe medications or advise starting, stopping, or changing them. Those decisions stay with your prescribing clinician.
Do I have to complete functional lab testing?
No. Testing is optional and depends on your history, goals, existing records, and budget. It's recommended only when it's likely to add useful information.
Are labs included in the $597 fee?
No. Laboratory testing is billed separately by the lab.
Can you work with my psychiatrist, therapist, or doctor?
Yes. This work is designed to run alongside your existing care. With your permission, I'm glad to share relevant findings with your providers.
Do you work with children?
Yes. I work with both adults and children. For minors, a parent or legal guardian takes part in the process.
What happens if I already have recent labs?
Bring them. Recent labs and records often reduce or replace the need for new testing, and reviewing them is part of the evaluation.
How soon after the evaluation do we meet again?
It depends on whether you're completing testing and how long results take. When testing is involved, we usually meet for the Results & Strategy Visit once the relevant results are back.
What if I'm not sure this is right for me?
Schedule a 15-minute Discovery Call. We can talk through what you're looking for and whether the evaluation is a reasonable next step.
